Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 55 Lightweight Water Resistant
This lightweight formula employs both zinc oxide and octinoxate to ensure that cells stay safe from the damaging UV rays of the sun. These trusted ingredients use a 2-step system that absorbs the UVB rays that cause sunburn, while diffusing the UVA rays that cause premature aging and cellular damage. These ingredients join forces with silky hydrators such as aloe vera and sunflower oil to help the skin retain moisture.
How It Works
UV Rays are some of the most damaging environmental aggressors, ravaging through multiple layers of the skin, creating both short and long term damage. UVB rays, which have shorter wavelengths, are the culprits behind surface burns. They also stimulate the melanin producing cells known as melanocytes. As the melanocytes produce melanin to help the skin absorb the ultraviolet light, they often end up overproducing, resulting in dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skintone. UVA rays, however, behave differently. With a much longer wavelength, UVA rays are responsible for photoaging, and are able to wreak havoc within the deeper layers of the skin. By impairing the collagen fibers responsible for rebuilding damaged skin, UVA rays essentially throw the aging process into overdrive, resulting in wrinkles, fine lines, and a massive loss of elasticity. Zinc oxide, a powdered mineral, helps to defend from UV rays, by diffusing and scattering them. Octinoxate works in tandem with zinc oxide, effortlessly absorbing the UVB rays that cause immediate and visible damage. Both of these actives are blended with soothing aloe vera and ultra-hydrating sunflower oil. Botanically derived, these ingredients ensure that skin is able to retain moisture.
